Do you need to meet my pet(s) first?
Yes, absolutely. We will not take in a dog without meeting you and your pet prior. We need to discuss your needs and ensure the dog will be able to become part of our pack. After the meeting, we can do a day play that same day to access your pets behavior with the others. The first few stays are trial-based until we see how your dog gets along, and to make sure it is the right environment for them and the pack. We will always do our best to accommodate all dogs and breeds, but we equally need to be honest if a pet is not suited to our pack to ensure the safety of everyone, including your pet.
What do you require?
All dogs must be up to date on their distemper vaccination, (DHP or DAP), and they must be on a monthly flea and parasite prevention. If we find fleas, we will provide a mandatory natural flea soak treatment for an additional cost of $40.
We require you to bring enough food for your pet's entire stay, and we recommend bringing a little extra in case of unforeseen flight delays or extension of travel. Should your pet run out of food, we will pick up your pet's regular diet for the cost of the food plus a $40 pick up fee.
We also require you provide us with an emergency contact for someone on island in the event of an emergency or a mandatory pet pick up.
Things we do not require, but recommend are:
- Leptospirosis and bordetella vaccinations.
- Collars with name tags and phone numbers & microchips.
- Anything you want to bring that you feel will bring your pet comfort during their stay with us.
What pets will you not take?
We unfortunately cannot accommodate any of the following, for the safety of all the animals:
- Aggressive dogs, (towards humans, children, or dogs)
- Unvaccinated dogs, (distemper, DHP, DAP).
- Unspayed females, (unless there is a secondary contact that will be able to pick them up SAME DAY if they go into a heat cycle). This is as much for their safety as it is for any other pet's safety. We never want to kennel any dogs, but if your female pet is in heat, we often have intact males we will have to separate them from, and this is the only occurrence where we will kennel a pet without permission from their owner for their safety until picked up by an alternate contact that same day. This is to keep intact males from becoming aggressive towards each other, or extreme behaviors to get to an in-heat female.
- Pets who chew on furniture, walls, or personal property.
